1. About TutorWiser

TutorWiser Ltd ("TutorWiser", "we", "the platform") provides an online marketplace connecting students and parents with independent tutors for 11+, GCSE, and A-Level tutoring. By using our platform, you agree to these terms.

2. Account Registration

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
  • Parents are responsible for accounts created for their children.
  • Students under 16 must have a parent-managed account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • Tutors must complete the application process and provide valid DBS documentation.

3. Tutoring Services

TutorWiser is a platform that facilitates connections between tutors and students. Tutors are independent contractors, not employees of TutorWiser. We do not guarantee specific educational outcomes. Sessions are conducted via our integrated video platform.

4. Bookings

  • Bookings are confirmed once payment is processed and the tutor accepts.
  • Tutors have 48 hours to accept or decline a booking request.
  • If a tutor does not respond within the deadline, the booking is automatically cancelled and payment is refunded.
  • Bookings can be rescheduled by mutual agreement between the parent/student and tutor.

5. Payments & Pricing

  • Prices are displayed in GBP and include the platform fee.
  • Payments are processed securely via Stripe.
  • Session packs offer discounted rates for bulk purchases (5, 10, or 20 sessions).
  • Wallet top-ups are non-refundable but can be used for any future booking.
  • Tutors receive their earnings via Stripe Connect after sessions are completed.
  • Pricing may vary based on programme level (11+, GCSE, A-Level) and tutor tier.

6. Cancellation & Refunds

  • More than 24 hours before: full refund.
  • Within 24 hours: 50% refund. The remaining 50% is split between the tutor and platform.
  • No-show: no refund. Tutor receives their full share.
  • Tutor cancellation: full refund to parent/student. Repeated cancellations may result in tutor account review.

7. Tutor Obligations

  • Maintain a valid enhanced DBS check.
  • Keep availability up to date to prevent booking conflicts.
  • Respond to booking requests within 48 hours.
  • Conduct sessions professionally and in accordance with safeguarding best practices.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to TutorWiser.

8. Reviews & Conduct

  • Parents and students may leave reviews after completed sessions.
  • Reviews must be honest, respectful, and based on genuine experience.
  • Tutors may respond to reviews publicly.
  • TutorWiser reserves the right to moderate or remove reviews that violate our guidelines.
  • Abusive, discriminatory, or harassing behaviour will result in account suspension.

9. Referral Programme

Parents may refer other parents using their unique referral code. Rewards are subject to the referred parent completing a qualifying booking. TutorWiser reserves the right to modify or discontinue the referral programme at any time.

10. Intellectual Property

Assessment content created by TutorWiser is our intellectual property. Tutors retain ownership of any original materials they create. By uploading content to the platform, you grant TutorWiser a non-exclusive licence to display it within the platform.

11. Limitation of Liability

TutorWiser provides the platform "as is". We are not liable for the quality of tutoring provided by independent tutors, technical issues with third-party services (video, chat, payments), or any indirect losses arising from use of the platform. Our total liability is limited to the fees you have paid in the preceding 12 months.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
